EDT: Search engine giant, Google recently has recently announced that they will be rolling out Voice Match and default speaker selection features to all Google Assistant-compatible devices. Product manager Praveen Chandran made this feature public in a blog post written on google’s official website.
Google’s voice match will allow google assistant to verify and able to tell who is talking in the family. Google default speaker will be used to allows users to choose a preferred option among several devices. All the google assistant compatible devices will be able to use this feature. Google Assistant, Siri, and Alexa are seen as a competitor. Siri is more popular than google assistant and google is trying to gain market share by adding more and more features to google assistant.
With Voice Match, you can teach Google Assistant to recognize your voice so you can receive personalized results, including calendar reminders or traffic to work, even if you share the device with other people in the household — Google
Google also announced that they will be expanding its hot word sensitivity to give users more freedom to choose what they prefer. At present Google assistant activation phrase “OK GOOGLE”‘s sensitivity is controlled by Google itself. After these updates, users will be able to change their sensitivity settings.
The company’s new feature is being seen in good as well as bad light too. Critics as always warning people that it could be a potential threat to personal information as google can monitor each and every activity done by android phone users. This can also be harmful as google will be able to acquire a monopoly situation with more number of assistant users.
Google’s Assistant was launched by Google LLC in 2016 to counter the popularity of iOS Siri. Till now, Google is continuously updating its algorithm to provide better results with google assistant. The numbers of android users are also increasing and thus the assistant user too.
